Nov. 26, 2012 J&J Motor Service drivers unanimously voted to ratify a new five-year contract this month after Teamsters Local 727 representatives secured significant raises and across-the-board improvements for the 11 members. Under the new contract, members will receive annual raises, including a raise upon ratification that is the largest the members have received in more than a decade. “The trade show industry and its workers are vital to this union, to the City of Chicago and to the State of Illinois,” said John Coli Jr., President of Local 727. “The union worked diligently to ensure our members received a contract they can stand by and be proud of.” Local 727 representatives also were able to secure complete maintenance of benefits and language that requires management to respond to paid time off requests in a timely manner. The agreement, which expires Sept. 30, 2017, also includes mileage reimbursement and load/unload allowance increases, as well as a per diem increase starting in 2015. J&J Motor Service is a Chicago-based transportation company that provides freight services and pickups and deliveries to trade shows and events throughout the United States and Canada. |
